The Song ima let you go is inspired by James Bay – Let it go. Hakeem Prime made the song in Dec 2019 while locked up in county jail. upon release, he recorded the hook in Feb 2021. Post it on Soundcloud for free download. months later a cover was done by TikTok user @jit_2_slight. Who had been struck by the same inspirational bug @HakeemPrime was, when making his own cover of Hakeem’s version himself. with the same soulful favor. Hakeem rapped a few secs of the verse he pre-wrote on top of Slight’s TikTok version, leading to a few hundred people requesting a full version with Hakeem’s lyrics. Being TikTok the creative haven that it is, Hakeem responded with a link to a Soundcloud exclusive. The rest is history.
