I don’t want to give away too much since it’s a surprise but my other project definitely involves mental health and being your true authentic self. That business is launching in about a month or so, don’t worry though I will be posting more info soon.” Leah Gradney is creative and stays motivating in her endeavors.
Where are you from?
I’m from Leonville which is a small town in Opelousas, Louisiana. I moved to Texas around my middle school years and visit home whenever I can! The environment is so loving, welcoming, and gives me a cozy feeling every time I see my family. Plus, the food is so bomb you can never go wrong with creole food!
Give Three qualities that describe you:
Oooo great question! I’d say relatable, empathetic, and creative. These three qualities are the embodiment of my work which is so important to me. I’m incredibly in tune with my emotions and feelings which helps me pour my soul into any creative outlet I use to stay grounded. Whether it be dance, make up, poetry, and everything in between!
How have you overcome struggles to be where you are now?
As a member of “the sad girls club”, I’ve learned to finally build a relationship with myself so I’m able to stay afloat while continuing to heal and build others up around me. TW: In my own personal experience, suicidal ideation came hand in hand with my depression. This is something that no one can just shoo away but instead give the proper care and love to yourself that is much needed. Since I’ve been able to work with that hardship, I can now share my story being transparent as ever.
Who were the most influential people in your life?
My top influential person would be my sister. I’ve experienced the most life lessons, business advice, and spiritual growth together with this woman here. She is also one of three people that has kept me alive today and I am forever grateful for those individuals.
An artist named Halsey because her music speaks to my soul. You can hear the hurt and cries for help in her music which resonated so much with myself. I seen her growth as the years passed and it continued to give me hope that I can work and heal my demons too!
Lastly, would be my best friend Jennie. I’ve known her since we were 19 years old and she has taught me so much about life without even realizing it. This woman has such a heart of gold despite everything she’s experienced. I’ve seen her grow through hell and back, face her shit, and come out on top living the life she truly deserves.
Leah Gradney views herself as an ambitious artist who has become more of an inspiration and a go-getter to others because of her work ethic and determination. She never gave up and describes a nonstop passion. “I’d say promoting my work is sometimes a struggle because not everyone resonates with it which is understandable. I have more uplifting poems that is a great balance but for the most part, my poetry is for the people who are in need of a voice. My own personal growth and younger version of myself is what consistently inspires me. I’ve battled with depression my entire life with a new member *anxiety* along the way. I’ve realized on my journey that I’m not alone and there’s so many others out there who are as well. Being vulnerable with my work allows that space for everyone to be themselves judgment free.” Leah Gradney, as some would call her, keeps a positive attitude toward reaching her goal.
Leah Gradney went on to remark that her passion for music will always be a driving force in her life, the people around her influencing her a lot. “It’s okay to have feelings, emotions, and not be ‘your best self” at times. No matter what you identify as. Mental health is important and don’t forget about men either who also struggle with it. We’re all beings trying to experience life not realizing how connected we all are with one another. Ask for help, lean on each other, and cry. You will seriously feel so much better! Also, fall in love with yourself. That journey alone is incredible as fuck! ” Several artists had significant challenges in 2021 because of the breakout of COVID-19. A variety of legislation enacted at the municipal, state, and federal levels banned a huge number of large-scale events, such as concerts and festivals, from occurring. Because of this choice, the number of opportunities for artists to exhibit their talents has been dramatically reduced. However Leah Gradney places a strong focus on her music and always stayed steadfast in her journey. Currently, Leah Gradney’s attention is focused on continuing to pursue her career in order to build on her already solid foundation and take it even farther than it has already gone. To be successful Leah Gradney has her eyes set on the prize and understands that staying consistent is key.
