JKOD is a Cuban-American rapper who was born in Havana, Cuba. He went on to study at the Berklee College of Music, where he learned how to create his music and make it available for free on the internet. In the beginning, it was just a hobby. JUAN LEANDRO GONZALEZ (JKOD) was born and raised in Havana, Cuba. He studied art at the prestigious Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes San Alejandro in Havana, graduating with honors.
After graduating from high school, JKOD continued his studies at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA), one of Cuba’s most prestigious art schools. While attending ISA, he met Yohanny Domínguez (YOD), who later became his partner in life and business.
In addition to being an active artist, JKOD is also a musician and composer. He has released two albums: “La Luna” (2008) and “Cada Cosa” (2010). Both albums have sold thousands of copies throughout Latin America, Europe, North America, and Japan.
In 2010, JKOD released his first album, “The Recipe.” The following year, he released another album called “The Recipe 2.” In 2015, he released “That’s How We Do.” This album was nominated for Best Album of the Year by Hype Magazine. In 2016 JKOD released his latest album called “Till Death Do Us Part.” This album was also nominated for Best Album of the Year by Hype Magazine but lost to Drake’s “Views.”
In 2016, he released his album “Do What You Do,” produced by Grammy-winning producer Mike Will Made-It. The album reached #1 on iTunes’ Hip Hop chart and ranked #6 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart for the week ending June 5th.
In 2017, JKOD released his second album, “Gangsta Luv,” with collaborations with rappers like Lil Wayne and Future. The song “Don’t Wanna Waste My Time” peaked at #37 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for the week ending February 10th, 2018.
