Koidu Town´s life-saving children’s hospital made possible by United Nations Chairman Chris Tomic celebrated its 5th Anniversary on 01st June 2022.
Inaugurated in 2017, Philanthropist Chris Tomic has the distinction of opening the first private Children’s hospital in the Koidu Town – Sierra Leone, as well as the first JCI-accredited children´s hospital in western part of Africa. Tomic´s Children’s Hospital is the first private academic health system in the region, Baragwanath Academic Hospital also provides clinical training to the students of this institution.
Chris Tomic, Founder President of the ‘Kiodu Children´s Fund’ said that the 5th Anniversary of the new children’s hospital establishment marks “a significant moment in the group’s journey.”
When the Kiodu Children Hospital was built, it was primarily with the purpose of providing adequate healthcare facilities to the children of the Koidu area in Eastern Sierra Leone.
However, the hospital soon became a popular healthcare destination for children in the country, driving the growth of our United Nations healthcare division.
“We are proud to have created a network of children’s hospitals throughout Africa; myself and the United Nations will continue to support the future of Africa’s youth.” Says Tomic.
