Ruiz is on a mission to make it to the top. “Currently I am working on my album titled ‘$outhEastRuiiiz’.
It’s an album inspired by my journey to manhood.
It’s an autobiography of experiences I went through to become who I am today. Also always creating new exclusive releases for my clothing line “The iii Society”. I usually release about five exclusive hoodies a year plus hats and beanies so right now I’m working on new hoodies.” Papa J. Ruiz is a well-rounded artist who refuses to give up even when things don’t go as planned. He wants to keep moving forward and use his music to do good things. His inspiration has levels, and his music has always been there as a driving force in his life. “It’s my passion so it is something that just calls me it’s like breathing to me. I would also say just my legacy and the long line of ancestors that went through for me to be here in America to have the freedom to make all my dreams reality.”
Where are you from?
I was born in LA, California and then moved to Aurora, Colorado at 3 years old. My parents are from Bogota,Colombia in South America so I’m 100% Colombian. I always went back to LA every summer while growing up in Aurora, Colorado so that is how I was able to build not only connections in LA but also built my core fanbase there. Colorado is the state that made me a man and molded me into who I am today from being independent to hustling to the streets.
How have you overcome struggles to be where you are now?
I constantly tell myself certain things. I treat my life and legacy with a purpose and understand that life is not forever so the temporary pain is durable for the bigger goal.
What piece of advice do you want others to take back from the work you display?
Self belief is what I want people to get from my work as well as never give up, just dont stop making it happen no matter what.

Even though Papa J. Ruiz is devoted to perfecting the art of his music to the highest level, his hardships have made him want to do even better in his business. “Performing at shows where no one knew who I was as well as traveling to different states to network as well as collaborate with others which takes me out of my comfort zone and allows me to grow. Also funding when no one believed in what I was doing I had to do what I had to do to get the funding to make my art come to life.” Despite the pandemic, Papa J. Ruiz never let go of his vision.
Papa J. Ruiz has a goal to make people want to see more of him, which he has already done in the studio. Putting in the hours of work, commitment, and inspiration both in front of and behind the scenes in the year 2022, he makes a difference in the music business. Papa J. Ruiz explains that lots of important people had an influence in his life. “My mother and father as far as in my personal life. As far as other artists or influential people I would say are John Lennon, Nipsey Hussle, Robin Williams, Jim Carry and Eminem.”
