In the year 2015 coordinated Terror attacks in Paris killed 130 people. On Wednesday Salah Abdeslam the only survivor of the 10-man units that carried out the attacks was found guilty
of murder and sentenced to a full life in prison with no possibility of parol this is the toughest sentence available under French law the court
The Belgium-born french national grew up in the neighbourhood of Brussels, Salah Abdeslam managed to bar with his older brother Brahim, who became of the November 13 suicide bombers. In his neighbourhood, he was defined as a party-goer and a small-time drug dealer.
In the 13 November attack, he had a key logistic role. He also played the role of getting the attackers across Europe before the attacks. He was captured in March 2016 hiding in his neighbourhood.
This sentence has only been given 4 times in the history of France. There is some relief for the incident’s survivors. When the court declared Abdul Slam guilty of murder and attempted murder, he exhibited no emotion. His claim that he had opted not to carry out the attack was rejected by the judges, who found that his explosives had malfunctioned.
19 additional men connected to the attacks were also found guilty by the special court, 18 on various terrorism-related offences and 1 on a lesser fraud charge. From two years to life in jail, they received sentences for their crimes.
The Trial has been decided but the legal processes will continue as the defendants have 10 days to appeal
