Sri Lankan house DJ and producer Arixx has announced his new single, Eternity, set for release in January. The track is the latest step in a career that has grown from bedroom mash-ups to signings with international labels.
Who Is Arixx?
Born in 1997 and from Negombo, Arixx fell in love with house and trance music as a child. Inspired by EDM, he began experimenting with different sounds, and his first attempt at mixing two hit records on his own console convinced him that music was his calling.
As a DJ, he is known for heavy basslines and festival-ready tracks that switch between deep grooves and high-energy drops, often with a melancholic, melodic edge.
From Self-Taught Producer to Label Signings
In 2016, Arixx started producing his own music. After teaching himself for about two years, he released his first single in 2018 and signed with the local label Sri Nation. His career then moved quickly:
- “Nove Ragazze” was signed by Canadian label FUNKTASY and featured on the YES FM Homegrown chart show.
- “Chocolate” was signed by US label NFYNIA.
- “Unite” was signed by UK label Filthy Sound.
He has released more than ten tracks, along with podcasts that trended on Mixcloud’s local charts, and four music videos in the Sri Lankan EDM scene.
Radio and Festivals
In 2020, Arixx hosted monthly radio shows on Banger.lk and Island Pulse Radio. He has played major local EDM festivals including Wonderland and Bloodmoon, and he was invited to perform at Mi Dance Italy and Virtual Mantra India in 2020.
A New Chapter
In 2021, Arixx became the first artist signed to HRMNIC, the EDM label of the Serendip Music Group. Through the label, he released his first international collaborations, “I’m in Love” and “Wings”. He released less music that year, but used the time to experiment and sharpen his production skills, work that feeds directly into “Eternity”.
