What got you into social media?
Mostly to keep in touch with close friends, but with specific social media like Instagram or tik tok, I really just enjoy taking pictures and posting them to share and keep, almost like a collection. Media like tik tok is awesome cause you can find so much informative/thought provoking content, and I just love that.
What got you into photography and screenwriting?
Both photography and screenwriting came natural to me. I was always a good storyteller because of how creative my mind was as a kid and now as an adult. I always loved watching movies and eventually went to school to learn how to create the stories I loved in film. Win photography, it was always just a in hobby that became something I actually became really good at. I would see a site or something shot worthy, and would just take a picture, it turning out exactly or better than I anticipated. And too I think loving both coincide with my love of film. Films were and are still a big part of my life, and I think they encouraged me to think and see life in a lense of my own, a lense that helps me express/ show my perceptions and thoughts through screenwriting and photography.
Are you inspired by anybody?
I’m very much inspired by filmmakers like Jordan peele, ari aster, Sam levinson, Wes craven, Edgar Wright, etc. and I’m still learning more about photographers and their works seeing as photography is a newer focus/love of mine.
What motivates you to do good things in life?
It’s hard to stay motivated at all in life, but I think what motivates me most is my mom and sister. They always help me realize and remember how amazing I am as an artist and wanting to provide and be there for them as much as possible motivates me as well.
If somebody asked you for advice in screenwriting what would you tell them?
The biggest advice I can give to someone asking about screenwriting is probably, make sure you outline and breakdown your story before writing. Just like life, anything you write has its simplicities and complexities and it’s important to know the relationship between the two and how they coexist amongst each other in a way that is as natural as possible. So basically, make sure you think about every detail of your script in order for the broader and bigger beats of your story hit home, in a relevant and resonance way.
When was the first time you took a photo and realized you generally enjoyed photography?
I want to say it was back when I was in Savannah Georgia in college. When the pandemic hit and things felt like they were flipped upside down, I had went on a trip with my good friends and roommates at the time, to the blue ridge mountains and I had taken the first photo of the trip and for some reason, while staring at it, it just felt right to fillip the photo upside down so I did and started an entire series on my Instagram dedicated to those days/years that felt so flipped. And that’s when I truly noticed how much photography made me so dedicated to the craft and how good I was at it. Just using my iPhone, the photos were stunning. I hope to continue furthering my photography hobby into something more.
