Rajasthan has become an important centre for higher education in India, home to well-known engineering institutes, a pioneering women’s university and modern private campuses. Here are five of the state’s most respected universities and what makes each one stand out.
1. BITS Pilani (Birla Institute of Technology and Science)
BITS Pilani is one of India’s best-known private engineering and science institutions and a deemed university. It became a deemed university in 1964, and its early development included collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Pilani campus covers around 328 acres and is fully residential, with hostels, sports facilities and a large central library.
BITS is known for its flexible academic system, dual-degree options and strong industry placements. It also runs campuses in Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai.
