Spoiler warning: this article discusses events from Black Clover chapters 258 and 259.
Yuki Tabata’s Black Clover reached one of its most dramatic stretches in mid-2020. Asta had made a huge sacrifice by giving up control of his arm to the devil living inside his grimoire, and fans worried that the devil might eventually take over his body completely. Chapter 259 continued the fight against Dante, one of the Dark Triad who rule the Spade Kingdom.
Where Chapter 258 Left Off
Dante, who wields the devil-powered Body Magic, had proven terrifyingly hard to beat. His ability to regenerate made ordinary attacks almost useless. Asta, refusing to give up, pushed past his limits and fought alongside his captain, Yami Sukehiro, to protect the Clover Kingdom.
Predictions and Storyline for Chapter 259
- Asta and Yami versus Dante: the combination of Asta’s anti-magic and Yami’s Dark Magic looked like the best chance to break through Dante’s regeneration.
- The Dark Triad’s real target: the Triad wanted to capture Yami and use his connection to dark magic to help open the way to the underworld.
- Zenon’s arrival: fans expected Zenon, another member of the Dark Triad, to appear and back Dante up.
- Asta’s devil power: nobody fully understood Asta’s new devil-powered abilities yet, so many readers hoped for a new boost or a deeper look at how they worked.
Release Date
According to VIZ Media’s schedule at the time, chapter 259 was released on Sunday, 26 July 2020. Black Clover was then running weekly in Weekly Shonen Jump.
Where to Read Black Clover
The series is available legally through VIZ Media, the Shonen Jump app and Shueisha’s MANGA Plus. Raw scans and leaks tend to appear online a few days early, but official releases have proper translations and support the creator directly.
Why This Arc Matters
The fight against Dante set up the Spade Kingdom Raid arc, one of the biggest storylines in Black Clover. It pushed Asta’s relationship with his devil to the centre of the story, which later became one of the most emotional parts of the manga.
