SEPTEMBER 2022 – COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO Reid Coke is a musical artist born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There is a lot to look forward to from the Popstar. He comes from humble beginnings and has been dedicated to his work. He has focused on never stopping working and always having content to strive for. “Right now, creatively, I’m working on releasing a catalog of music I have been working on. I just want everybody to hear it and enjoy it as much as I enjoy making it. I’m always writing new music and finding new ways to incorporate my life and experiences into my creative process while keeping that raw and genuine emotion behind it. My new single ‘NUMB’, just released on all platforms along with a music video. I’d love it if everyone just went and checked it out. I got more to come soon, some might even say it’s spooky how soon.” With the right intentions ahead, the unique business owner is hardworking with his work, and has qualities of being emotional, intuitive, persevering, Reid stays positive.
Reid remains honest on his journey and remains heavily influenced by motivating factors. He knows where his passion starts from and speaks more on his inspirations that keep him consistent. “Life. My literal existence is weird and strange to me and the thought that we’re all floating on some big rock without actually knowing how we got here or where we’re going has always been a really weird and scary idea to me. I’d like to think that making my music and releasing it so people can hear it and maybe get something out of it is what drives me so much to keep doing it.” Reid stays consistent and has been seen at lots of shows doing what he loves.
What piece of advice do you want others to take back from the work you display?
That regardless of what it is you’re going through in life there is always someone going through something similar. NOBODY has to be alone. Reach out, it’s okay to feel lost and sad but there are people out there who genuinely want to help others and I hope I can accomplish that through my music. Music hasn’t always been that outlet for me, I know how dark thoughts can be when you’re feeling that low. You have to keep going, everytime you’re about to give up is when you have to push forward. Life is a really beautiful thing when you’re able to finally breathe it in.
As a business owner, what are some obstacles you have had to overcome to get where you are at?
I’ve struggled with Bipolar Disorder since I was a kid, going from high to low and everything in between. Overtime I’ve been able to get those feelings out in healthier ways than previously but it’s still something I have to work on and be attentive to everyday. I think obstacles are never ending and are always going to be there but its our responsibility to learn from them and act accordingly to better ourselves.
Even though Reid is devoted to perfecting the art of his craft to the highest level, his hardships have made him want to do even better in his business as well. “Honestly I would say my support system has been amazing and helped me through so much. I would not be where I’m at if it weren’t for the people I have in my life who are constantly at bat for me and always pushing me to be the best version of myself I can be.” Reid is now focused on continuing to be the best in his city, so that he can build on his already strong foundation even more than it already is.
Reid mentions within the interview that certain individuals in his life have inspired him to be great, starting from his own family. “My friends and support system. I learn from them everyday and although family hasn’t been a big part of my life for a long time I’ve created my own family. I’m loved and supported and surrounded by amazing people who want to see me grow and achieve whatever I want to in life. So thank you to those people, you know who you are.”
As a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, a lot of big-crowd events, like concerts and festivals, were banned in 2021. This was because of restrictions put in place by both the city and the federal government. As a result, the number of chances for artists to show off their skills has been dramatically cut down. Reid remained steadfast through it all.
