Spoiler warning: this article covers events from Dr. Stone chapters 167 and 168.
After a tense war in the America arc, Dr. Stone chapter 168 brought an unexpected shift: the two genius scientists, Senku and Dr. Xeno, finally sat down to talk. It was a turning point that changed the direction of the story.
Recap of Chapter 167
Thanks to a tunnel dug by Chrome’s team, Tsukasa reached Xeno’s base unseen and captured him. Xeno, recognising that he had been outmanoeuvred by Senku’s side, was cut off from his forces so he could not contact his allies. The plan worked because the team moved underground, out of sight of Xeno’s lookouts.
Chapter 168 Summary
- A rescue at sea: aboard the Perseus, François and Kaseki managed to rescue members of their team from Stanley’s grip and escape.
- Senku and Xeno talk: Senku asked to speak with Xeno directly. He explained that he has a method for mass-producing revival fluid to bring petrified people back to life, but he needs Xeno’s huge corn fields to make enough of it.
- A shared goal: Senku revealed that the petrification was caused by an entity known as “Why-Man”, and that to end the threat for good they would eventually have to reach the moon.
- An uneasy agreement: Xeno refused to join Senku’s group outright, but he agreed to cooperate in reviving a thousand petrified people and allowed his corn fields to be used for the effort.
- Brody joins in: Senku also worked with Brody, an engineer from Xeno’s faction, sharing his recipe for revival fluid production.
Why This Chapter Matters
Chapter 168 moves Dr. Stone from a war story towards its final goal of reaching the moon. Seeing two scientists find common ground, despite their very different values, is one of the arc’s most satisfying payoffs.
