Joey Bakes knows where his passion starts from and speaks more on his inspirations that keep him consistent. “I’ve overcome struggles by staying focused (laughs) and dedicated to the main objective. Through networking among many other things, I’ve built a name, and have been doing everything I can to positively live up to it. Anything and everything can be a struggle, you have to find a way to counteract those struggles and turn them into opportunities. You won’t always win, but it’s a lot better to look at the glass half full than half empty.” Joey Bakes stays consistent and has been seen at shows performing his latest music.

I am originally from Roosevelt, New York, but I have been in Dallas most of my life!
What piece of advice do you want others to take back from the work you display?
Keep God First, and definitely watch yourself. Guard your soul! We are in an age where people either love you or hate you, and they either give want or take. As artists we have to influence things in a positive way. If we want to actually change the things around us. There is a lot about our world that we don’t understand.
What do you have coming up right now that you want others to know about?
Right now I have a plethora of releases to drop this summer. The biggest project is called “The Pursuit to Move Away High Above The Clouds and Wish in a Field of Dreams” ; it is set to release 7/31 on all streaming platforms. It tells a story of that “Pursuit”, the one that we as creatives all chase, the ups and downs, the change, the women, the drugs, the pain, the pleasures, whatever it is that we want it tells it from different perspectives. But as always it does have a deeper and more thought out meaning but that’s for the listener to decipher. Who were the most influential people in your life?
The most influential people in my life currently is my close family and friends. My Dad and my baby brothers, I’ve been going through so much and I feel like I was shutting a lot of people out, thinking that I can’t see them until I am where I “need” to be. I’ve learned with family it is more of a come as you are not leave as you came situation. And I am slowly learning how to rely on others who have a common goal in mind.
Joey Bakes has his sights set on the prize despite dealing with hardships. “As a business owner, I’ve overcome many many obstacles, simple ones like not being able to pay this or that because of a slow week or month, to guns being drawn over disagreements, it comes with the territory for sure. There will always be some crazy Bs that is out of your control. But we do have it in our control to make the best of every situation. The fact that we are here now doing big things and actually changing lives is a testament of overcoming in itself.” Now, with his listeners, he is motivated by the thought of making a difference not just in this world and when he hits the stage to perform and in the studio working hard in silence.
