NoStoppin3k, known to friends as TK, was born and raised in North Dallas and is one of the city’s emerging rap artists worth keeping an eye on. His focus right now is on sharpening every part of his craft, including the technical side. “I’m currently learning to record, mix and master my own vocals,” he says, which keeps him busy in the studio.
Built on integrity and loyalty
TK says three values have guided his growth as an artist: integrity, loyalty and accountability. He expects honesty from the people around him and holds himself to the same standard. Whatever setbacks come his way, his goal is to keep moving forward and create music that means something.
Family is at the centre of his ambitions. “I want to be the breadwinner in my family and make sure everyone is taken care of properly,” he explains.
Lessons from his parents
He credits his parents as his biggest influences. “Seeing my mother get up every day to go to work just to make ends meet gives me that drive to keep going,” he says. “She’s been holding it down since I was born, and I couldn’t love her more for it.”
From his father he learned resilience and responsibility. “He taught me how to be a man and gave me book smarts and street smarts. He showed me how to stand up for myself and stay on top of things in life.”
Pushing through tough times
Like many new artists, TK lost valuable chances to perform during the pandemic, when concerts and live events were heavily restricted. Rather than slowing down, he has used that time to strengthen his foundation. He believes success means investing in yourself and in the people who support you.
He admits it is not always easy. “I want to invest in myself more, but it’s not always simple,” he says. Confidence and faith, he adds, have helped him through difficult periods, and he encourages others to face their own challenges the same way.
Tunnel vision and having fun
For TK, the key to success is a mix of focus and enjoyment: keep tunnel vision on your goals, but have fun with everything you put out. Fans can expect more singles, along with merchandise from his own brand, NoStoppin.
