Preachermafioso: Collins Ero, better known as Preachermafioso or Yoso is a Nigerian Hiphop, Afrovogue musician, songwriter, poet/producer.
Raised in Lawanson Surulere and Ojo Lagos, Yoso relocated to the US at 26. The Recording Academy Voting Member was born a younger twin on Aug 7th in the mid 80’s. Yoso’s journey into music started at a very young age. In the early 90s his father, an ardent music connoisseur would play tons of Vinyl records from icons like Cool & the Gang, Fela Kuti, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Marvin Gaye Johnny Nash, ABBA, Michael Jackson, Boney M, Bongos Ikwue, Rex Lawson, Smokie, Jimmy Cliff etc. In the early 90’s, older cousins introduced him to his biggest hip-hop influences, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, JAY-Z, Nas, B.I.G., 2Pac.
A music junkie, Shaggy, Blackky, Fatai Rolling dollars, Majek Fashek, Lagbaja, Tracy Chapman, Kanye West, Dru Hill, Light House Family were all icons that influenced his artistry alongside he and Chris’s (Xrixtox) choir background.
A Christian, and youth mentor, the death of his baby sister & twin, Xrixtox left a huge dent in yoso, this is mostly reflected in his songs. (Life, Love Struggles, Purpose, Afterlife)
Yoso as fondly called by fans, describes his sound “AFROVOGUE” (AfroMotown) a genre that stems from Afro music, Hip-Hop & Motown, consisting of soulful, laid-back flex & blend of glide rap.
While in Nigeria, Yoso was with Aristos Ent. His first single in the US, iNvincible, featuring Raspy, relays not so pleasant personal experiences, following his relocation to the US.
His debut album Xrix N Yoso, includes mixes of various genres, Hip-hop, Afrobeat, AfroVogue, with tracks like Black Anthem, Coming To America, OffWhite feat Sh3.
Preachermafioso is currently working on his follow up album “Broken Wings”, billed to drop in the summer of 2022
