Spoiler warning: this article discusses events from One Piece chapters 991 and 992 in the Wano Country arc.
One Piece chapter 992 continued the chaotic raid on Onigashima, with one of the most surprising character reveals of the arc: the truth about X Drake.
Recap of Chapter 991
Inuarashi and Nekomamushi unleashed their Sulong forms and took down Jack, one of Kaido’s All-Stars. Meanwhile, X Drake reached out to Luffy, asking to join forces. Jinbe, Zoro and Franky were suspicious and moved to stop whatever Drake might be planning.
The X Drake Reveal
The big twist is that Drake is not just a pirate. He is secretly a spy for the Marines, working undercover inside Kaido’s crew. Queen and Who’s-Who had become suspicious of him, and part of their earlier behaviour turned out to be a trap to expose him. Cornered by two of Kaido’s strongest fighters, Drake’s decision to approach Luffy suddenly makes sense: he needs allies to survive.
Fans also remembered that Koby, Drake’s fellow Marine, had previously spoken well of Luffy and the Straw Hats, which may have influenced Drake’s choice to trust them.
What It Means for the Raid
- Drake’s position inside the Beast Pirates collapses, turning him into an unexpected ally of the rebellion.
- Luffy has the final say on whether Drake can be trusted, while Jinbe and the others want clarity first.
- With Jack defeated, the alliance gains momentum as the battle moves towards Kaido and Big Mom.
Release Date
Chapter 992 was released on Sunday, 4 October 2020, in Weekly Shonen Jump, continuing the series’ weekly schedule without a break.
