Spoiler warning: this article covers events from Black Clover chapters 264 and 265.
After the Dark Triad’s attack on the Clover Kingdom, Black Clover began moving towards the Spade Kingdom Raid arc. Captain Yami had been taken, the Black Bulls were reeling, and a mysterious figure was about to change everything. Here is what happened around chapter 265.
Recap of Chapter 264
The highlight of chapter 264 was the dramatic arrival of Yuno, now able to draw on the power of the elves. His growth stunned both the Clover Kingdom’s knights and the Black Bulls. Soon after, Nacht Faust, the long-absent vice-captain of the Black Bulls, appeared without warning. He joined the Black Bulls’ meeting and began planning a mission into the Spade Kingdom to rescue Yami.
What Chapter 265 Was About
Chapter 265 focused on preparing for the strike against the Spade Kingdom. Nacht, who has his own history with the Spade Kingdom and the Dark Triad, revealed more about the enemy and what it would take to beat them. The question hanging over the Black Bulls was whether they were ready for such a dangerous mission, and what each of them might have to sacrifice to save their captain.
Who Is Nacht Faust?
Nacht is a shadow mage who can merge with devils he has made contracts with. He is strict, sharp-tongued and secretive, but he cares deeply about defeating the Dark Triad. His arrival brought new information about devils, devil contracts and Asta’s own devil, Liebe, setting up some of the most important revelations of the series.
Why It Matters
- It set up the Spade Kingdom Raid arc, one of the biggest arcs in Black Clover.
- It began Asta’s training to work with his devil rather than against it.
- It showed how far Yuno had come, raising the rivalry between him and Asta.
Release Date
Chapter 265 was released in September 2020. Black Clover ran weekly in Weekly Shonen Jump at the time, with new chapters usually arriving on Sunday, Japan time.
