Spoiler warning: this article covers events from Boruto manga chapters 50 and 51 during the fight against Isshiki Otsutsuki.
The battle against Isshiki Otsutsuki is one of the most important arcs in Boruto Naruto Next Generations. By chapter 51, Boruto, Naruto and Sasuke were fighting side by side against an enemy far stronger than anything the Leaf Village had faced in years.
Where the Story Stood
Isshiki, a member of the godlike Otsutsuki clan, had taken over the body of Jigen, the leader of Kara. To protect the village, Isshiki transported Boruto, Naruto and Sasuke to another dimension using the power of his eyes, hoping to eliminate them there before turning to the rest of Konoha.
Chapter 51 Recap
Naruto wakes up confused about where they are, and Boruto explains that the Otsutsuki can pull people into other dimensions. Naruto warns his son not to repeat the reckless move he made earlier, but Boruto insists he cannot let Isshiki destroy the village.
Isshiki then charges at full speed, and the fight becomes a three-on-one battle. He cleverly splits the trio up and grabs Boruto by the collar, curious about how much power the boy holds. Sasuke strikes to free Boruto while Naruto pulls him back to safety. Isshiki easily stops Sasuke’s Chidori, kicks him to the ground, and Naruto orders Boruto to run before it is too late.
Why It Matters
- It shows the huge gap between Isshiki and even the strongest shinobi alive.
- It highlights Boruto’s courage, as well as the danger of his connection to the Otsutsuki through his Karma mark.
- It sets up the desperate measures Naruto would soon have to take.
