Spoiler warning: this article covers events from Dr. Stone chapters 165 and 166 in the America arc.
Dr. Stone, written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi, ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from March 2017 to March 2022. Its America arc pitted Senku’s Kingdom of Science against Dr. Xeno, a brilliant scientist with his own vision for rebuilding civilisation. By chapter 166, that rivalry had turned into a full-scale battle fought in the sky and on the ground.
Recap of Chapter 165
The previous chapter continued the aerial dogfight between Ryusui, flying for Senku’s side, and Stanley Snyder, Xeno’s ruthless military commander. Stanley showed his experience by deliberately putting his plane into what looked like an uncontrolled spin, a manoeuvre that let him dodge Ryusui’s shots. Ryusui, for all his natural talent, found it hard to predict Stanley’s moves.
On the ground, Ginro and Magma thought the fight was going their way, and Matsukaze worked to protect Ginro as events in the sky unfolded.
Spoilers and Key Points in Chapter 166
- A possible decoy: hints suggested that Stanley’s aerial attack might be a distraction from something more important happening below.
- Xeno’s weak spot: by sending many of his fighters out, Xeno left his headquarters more exposed than before.
- Chrome’s team: Chrome and others were preparing a route towards Xeno’s base, giving the Kingdom of Science a chance to strike directly.
Why This Battle Matters
The clash between Senku and Xeno is not just about strength; it is a contest between two scientists using the same knowledge in very different ways. Xeno’s side had advanced weapons and trained soldiers, while Senku’s group relied on teamwork, creativity and clever inventions. That contrast made the America arc one of the most tense parts of the series.
What Is Dr. Stone About?
A mysterious flash turns every human on Earth to stone. Thousands of years later, teenage genius Senku Ishigami breaks free and sets out to rebuild civilisation from scratch using science, from making soap and medicine to radios, cars and eventually aircraft. It is a rare shonen series that teaches real science along the way.
