Yasuhisa Hara’s Kingdom is one of the longest-running and most acclaimed war manga, following the soldier Shin on his journey to become a great general during China’s Warring States period. Chapter 654 delivered a large-scale battle involving the armies of Qin, Wei and Chu, setting up Kingdom Chapter 655.
Recap of Chapter 654
The chapter was packed with battlefield action. At the Qin headquarters, officers watched as Wei forces began falling back after clashing with Chu’s army. Moubu’s son, the strategist Mouki, observed the fierce fighting closely, thinking through possible tactics while listening to the soldiers around him.
At the Wei headquarters, the commanders noticed that Chu had pulled back its second defensive line, and they felt confident having the brilliant strategist Gohoumei on their side. Mouki later raised questions about Gohoumei’s approach and recognised that the Zhao strategist Riboku remained one of the most dangerous minds of the era.
Moubu’s forces broke through Chu’s first line, while elite Chu units, including the Gen-U army, joined the fight. Seeing how strong they were made Mouki reflect on his own role and identity as a commander.
